The City of Madras is seeking a Finance Director for this rapidly growing community of over 8,000 located on the east side of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains. Madras serves as the county seat of Jefferson County and enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year as well as easy access to outdoor recreation such as mountain biking, hiking, camping, rockhounding, skiing, water sports, and golf.
The City of Madras operates under a Mayor-Council form of government with a budget of $38.9 million and a team of 37 FTEs. The Finance Department is the hub of all financial activities for the City and provides central accounting services for all City departments and the City’s Urban Renewal Agency. The Department operates with a budget of $710,427 and a team of 4 FTEs which include the Finance Director, Accounting Analyst, Accounting Technician, and Customer Accounting Specialist.
THE FINANCE DIRECTOR
Reporting to the City Administrator, the Finance Director plans, organizes, directs, and integrates the financial management, accounting, and business services of the City. The Director manages financial services including treasury, public financing, liability and debt management, accounting operations, performance reporting, insurances, contracts, and related business services.
