Job Description

The County of Santa Barbara's County Executive Office is currently accepting applications to fill one (1) full-time vacancy in Santa Barbara. The candidate selected for this vacancy will bring a high level of professionalism, knowledge, and integrity to the team.

Operating under the direction of the County Executive Officer, the County Compliance and Accountability Officer directs the implementation of policies and programs aimed at ensuring transparent and accountable County operations; serves as an oversight coordinator and liaison between the Board of Supervisors, County Executive Officer, and County departments; serves as the investigative enforcement agent of the County Executive Office; and performs related work as required

The County Executive Office is looking for a candidate who will work cross-departmentally with other leaders in the County and use their technical expertise and interpersonal skills to meet the goals and objectives of the department and County. It is important that this candidate possess:

Strong Leadership Skills:

  • Demonstrate an ability to be a strong partner in the organization.
  • Effectively advise and provide consultative services to departments, executives and elected officials on compliance related issues.
  • Character defined by integrity, humility, empathy, action and stewardship.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills:

  • Strong customer orientation to achieve both departmental and countywide goals by collaborating with department directors, elected officials and executive leadership.
  • Ability to manage highly sensitive issues.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to present/communicate to a group, including executives, managers, and County employees
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence to communicate effectively and foster productive relationships.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to conduct complex analytical studies of administrative procedures and policies.
  • Ability to conduct research and develop statistical data, analyze findings and make innovative recommendations on administrative practices and procedures.
  • Ability to research, interview, survey, or otherwise investigate suspicions, allegations, and complaints of improper activities.
