Deputy Finance Director
The City of Dickinson is seeking an experienced Deputy Finance Director to lead financial operations, oversee municipal accounting, and ensure compliance with government finance regulations. This role is responsible for supervising the Finance and Utility Billing divisions, managing city investments, debt, grants, and financial risk while ensuring transparency and fiscal responsibility.
Salary: $93,512.97 - $130,940.74 per year, depending on qualifications
Schedule: Monday - Friday
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise Finance and Utility Billing operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Serve as the investment officer, public funds custodian, and financial risk manager.
- Oversee budget control, financial reporting, and external audits.
- Develop and enforce financial policies that safeguard city assets.
- Advise on capital projects, pension oversight, and financial strategy.
- Represent the City at public meetings, committees, and professional conferences.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: At least six years of governmental accounting experience, including supervisory roles or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Skills: Strong leadership, municipal finance knowledge, and proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Certifications: CPA, CGFM, or CPFO preferred.
