Director of Finance & Support Services
Experienced Director to manage and/or provide for the administration of all City financial matters including the production and administration of the City's operating and capital budgets in concert with the City Manager. The Director of Finance & Support Services works to improve the City's financial condition and directly oversees the functions of accounting, assessing, revenue collections, procurement, payroll, disbursements, risk management, funds assessment, information technology, and school accounting, accounts payable, and payroll processing functions. The Director is responsible for the performance audit and the associated financial systems and workflows and reports on these matters. The Director also oversees the City Clerk and Canvassing departments.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, economics, finance or a related field and have completed additional study in one or more specialized areas such as investment analysis and cash management, managerial practices, labor relations, performance measurement, cost accounting or computer science. An MBA, MPA or CPA is preferred.
Must have a minimum of five years of senior level responsible experience or ten years of progressively responsible experience in government accounting and/or financial management. Experience in municipal accounting and a strong knowledge of Rhode Island law pertaining to municipal finance are preferred.
Must have no offenses which would prohibit or restrict insurance coverage or bonding by any carrier servicing the City.
