Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant works closely with the Finance Manager to ensure that the day-to-day accounting operations and financial management functions are carried out in accordance with Commission policy, procedures, guidelines and systems, as well as GASB reporting requirements and generally accepted accounting principles. The Senior Accountant will perform highly technical accounting functions such as maintaining all accounts within the General Ledger, developing tools for analysis, record reconciliation, posting to accounts and assisting in the preparation and maintenance of the budgets of the various departments within the Commission.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain Financial Records and Reports
- Record journal entries, reconcile accounts and assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Assisting in preparation of ACFR, Budget, and other financial filing requirements.
Help Develop and Ensure Compliance and Internal Controls
- Uphold financial procedures, assist with audits, and ensure adherence to GAAP, labor laws, and organizational policies.
- Review AP, Miscellaneous AR, and Miscellaneous Cash Receipts for posting to the General Ledger.
- Assist with Budgeting and Forecasting
- Analyze and Improve Processes
- Communicate Financial Information Clearly
- Process Payroll and Benefits Transactions
- Support HR & Finance Integration
- Provided Cross-Departmental Support by offering financial insights and responsive service.
- Assist in performing the duties of the Finance Manager during absences, ensuring continuity in financial operations and decision-making.
