Job Description

The City of Lafayette is looking to hire an innovative, resilient, self-starting individual who has experience providing timely, responsive, excellent customer service to businesses and taxpayers; experience creating and delivering educational content to business communities and taxpayers; and experience creating and administering business licensing & tax compliance programs. In 2021 the City will launch a revised and updated city-wide general business licensing program and will build construction use tax and general sales and use tax audit programs, with an upfront emphasis on education and hands-on taxpayer assistance and compliance support. This is a new position, and these are new programs, and the most successful candidates will have experience creating and launching new programs in the municipal tax and licensing space.

The City of Lafayette views the businesses that operate in the City first and foremost as key partners that have a stake in the funding and operation of an innovative and special city. This position will operate on the front lines of those important business relationships, and the long-term emphasis is on keeping them positive and productive, and on being a consistent and substantive resource that businesses can rely on to help them comply with the City’s taxation and licensing codes.
