John Baier is a Deputy State Auditor with the California State Auditor’s Office. During his nearly 34 years with the office, John has managed numerous performance audits on various topics including California’s energy crisis, local governments’ use of red light cameras, the City of Vernon’s reforms and finances, and the University of California’s admission practices. John has also evaluated information technology use in state government, including the California Judicial Branch’s attempt to implement a statewide court case management system. Additionally, John is a CPA and has served in the past as the project manager over the financial audit of California’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. John graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance.
