Melinda Gildart is the Past Controller of Chicago Public Schools, the nation’s third largest school district. With nearly 20 years of governmental finance experience, Melinda has previously served in senior finance roles at the Federal, State and Local level, including the City of Chicago, Illinois Finance Authority, Chicago Park District and the U. S. General Services Administration. She is a certified public accountant and nationally recognized leader in her field, notably through her work as the immediate past Chair of the GFOA’s Standing Committee on Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting (CAAFR). In her previous roles, Melinda managed highly complex corporate accounting, grants management, disbursements, procurement, information systems, financial reporting and internal and external audit functions. Ms. Gildart received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration: Accounting, from Chicago State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Roosevelt University. She is also a long-time member of the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society and past member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and Association of Local Government Auditors.
