Mike Kennington joined the City of Mesa in 2012 as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As the CFO, Mr. Kennington is responsible for Management and Budget, Financial Services, Purchasing, ERP Management, Debt Management and Investment Management. Mr. Kennington also serves as the chairman of the City’s Deferred Compensation Committee. Mr. Kennington has been active in the GFOA including spending three years on the Treasury and Investment Management Committee and currently as a member of the Committee on Retirement and Benefits Administration.
Mr. Kennington is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and prior to joining the City, Mr. Kennington held various positions at American Express and Deloitte and Touche.
Mr. Kennington received his BS in Accounting from the University of Kansas, MAcc and MBA from Brigham Young University.
