OpenMind Program Details

3 Surveys

  • As part of GFOA measuring the effectiveness of this program, you will complete 3 surveys (about 20 minutes each): once before beginning OpenMind, once after completing OpenMind, and 8 weeks after completing OpenMind.
  • For each survey you complete, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win an iPad!

8 Interactive Online Lessons

  • OpenMind consists of 8 interactive online lessons (30 min each) that weave together psychological concepts, practical skills, and interactive scenarios.
  • We recommend you complete 1 module per week (see more details below).
  • You'll receive reminder emails after each lesson to help you stay on track throughout the program.
  • After completing the program, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win an iPad!

4 Peer-to-Peer Conversations

  • If you opted in to Peer-to-Peer Conversations during sign-up, you'll be randomly assigned a partner who you'll meet with 4 times for guided peer-to-peer conversations (30 min each).
  • You’ll get an email connecting you to your partner and asking you two to set up a time.

Live Sessions

  • Live capstone: Near the end of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for a facilitated capstone session (1 hour) with your peers to put your skills into practice.

  • We recommend you complete OpenMind according to this schedule:

Getting Started

  1. Block times in your schedule
    • Before you begin, block some time in your calendar to complete the online learning.
Time allocations for each week are in the suggested schedule above.
      • Note: The program is flexible. If you’re out of town for a week, you can make up the modules when you return.
  2. Get started with OpenMind.
    • Create a username and password with GuidedTrack.
    • Once you’re logged in, the program will guide you through a 5 minute orientation to begin using the program.
    • Note: In case you're prompted, the access code for your group is: GFOA1 (case-sensitive).
  3. Confirm your GuidedTrack account
    • Tip: If you created an account using Google+ or Facebook Single Sign on, you can ignore this step.
    • If you created a GuidedTrack account with an email address and password, you will receive an email after signing up with a link to confirm your account. If you do not confirm your GuidedTrack account within 1 week, you may get locked until you do so.
      To confirm your account:
      • Search your Inbox and Spam folders for an email called “OpenMind: Please Confirm Account” from and click the link provided.
      • If you cannot find this email, please reach out to to confirm your account.
  4. If you opted in to Peer-to-Peer Conversations during sign-up:
    • You’ll get a separate email connecting you to your partner and asking you two to set up a time.
    • When you log into OpenMind, you will be asked to opt in again. This will make sure you get access to the materials you need for those Peer-to-Peer conversations
  5. If you opted out of the Peer-to-Peer Conversations during sign-up:
    • When you log into OpenMind, you will be asked to opt out again. This will ensure that the program does not remind you to do the Peer-to-Peer conversations.
