SBA Hosting Roundtable on State and Local Website Accessibility
On September 14, 2023, the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Advocacy will be hosting a roundtable meeting on the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) ADA Accessibility Rule for State and Local Governments. The DOJ is establishing technical standards for state and local government entities to make their websites and mobile applications accessible for people with disabilities. Click here to read the proposed rule and to submit comments and click here for a fact sheet on the proposed rule.
The roundtable will be hosted by SBA staff via Microsoft Teams from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (EDT) on September 14. The agenda is still in the process of being finalized but DOJ staff are scheduled to participate and will provide a briefing and overview of the proposed rule. Any comments expressed during the roundtable do not take the place of submitting official written comments which are due to DOJ by 11:59 p.m. (Eastern) on October 3, 2023. SBA staff are particularly interested in hearing from small entities and/or feedback on regulatory alternatives that may minimize the costs of the rule. To participate, please send your RSVP request to Janis Reyes at Janis.Reyes@sba.gov.
