The American Families Plan

On Wednesday, April 28, President Joe Biden delivered his first address to Congress, using the occasion to describe his Administration’s next major legislative package, the American Families Plan (AFP). The second part of the Administration’s two-part investment following the introduction of the American Jobs Plan earlier this year, the AFP commits billions in new funding to cap childcare expenses at seven percent of household income, free community college, universal pre-school and more. More details over specific provisions contained in the plan are expected in the coming days. GFOA’s Federal Liaison Center will continue to monitor this legislation as it moves through Congress.
