White House: No Stimulus Until After Elections

On Tuesday, October 27, President Trump predicted another stimulus relief package would not happen until after the upcoming Presidential Elections. Negotiations have remained at a standstill for months as the House, Senate, and White House have failed to find common ground over the next stimulus deal. Despite Speaker Pelosi and Secretary Mnuchin resuming talks over the past few weeks attempting to keep negotiations moving, no progress has been made. The overall size of the aid package and the prospect of direct aid to state and local governments remain as sticking points in the negotiations.

GFOA continues to advocate for the needs of state and local governments during this urgent time.
