State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program
DHS Announces an Additional $374.9 Million in Funding to Boost State and Local Cybersecurity
On August 7, 2023, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced $374.9 million in grant funding for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP). The Program was established by the State and Local Cybersecurity Improvement Act, and part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The SLCGP is jointly administered by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
For the FY 2023 Program year, applicants must focus on implementing their Cybersecurity Plans by addressing the following program objectives:
- Objective 2: Understanding their current cybersecurity posture and areas for improvement based on continuous testing, evaluation, and structured assessments.
- Objective 3: Implementing security protections commensurate with risk.
- Objective 4: Ensuring organization personnel are appropriately trained in cybersecurity, commensurate with their responsibilities.
