GFOA Standing Committee Application Process

Leading in these unprecedented times is now more important than ever for public finance officers. An excellent opportunity for GFOA members to contribute their experience and knowledge to the entire membership is by serving on a standing committee. GFOA's seven standing committees typically meet twice each year and develop best practices, advisories, and policy statements for the approval of the Executive Board and membership. GFOA associate members from the private sector may also apply to be advisors to one of the committees.

The GFOA’s seven standing committees are - Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting; Canadian Issues; Economic Development and Capital Planning; Governmental Budgeting and Fiscal Policy; Governmental Debt Management; Retirement and Benefits Administration; and Treasury and Investment Management.

Committee members are expected to attend two meetings per year in-person and when necessary, additional remote meetings. In-person meetings are scheduled for Washington D.C. in the winter and the site of the Annual Conference in the summer.

Please note that GFOA does not provide for the reimbursement of expenses incurred in connection with committee activities. Please review the Standing Committees Policies and Procedures for other committee guidelines.

The application window will reopen in the summer of 2024.
