Job Description: 

The City of Charlotte’s Office of Strategy and Budget is looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to make an impact on the city and our community. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

•Perform budget preparation and financial research to support the formulation and administration of the annual operating and/or capital budgets. •Conduct policy analysis and make appropriate recommendations •Monitor performance measurements and conducts program evaluations •Evaluate budget requests and develop detailed analysis and narrative explanations •Assists with problem solving of budget issues such as feasibility of service expansion •Identifies and helps resolve budget problems •Perform a comprehensive analysis of department expenditures and recommends budget adjustments based on historical financial research and comparison •Reviews all changes to a department's budget and staffing level •Perform financial analysis and presents findings •Prepare and present written reports with recommendations •Coordinate the preparation of the detailed budget documents •Coordinate or participate in special projects or study teams •Use multiple financial systems and databases to prepare comprehensive technical reports showing the current status of expenditures and revenues •May serve as lead analyst for special projects and initiatives or core function areas •Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires at least three years of related experience. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college in public administration, business administration, accounting, or a related field. Proficiency in Excel and Word are required. Master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated experience in writing, critical, and analytical thinking.
