Job Description: 

Scope of Job Duties: To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to: Provide direct supervision to a team of accountants responsible for accounting and reporting on proprietary funds, governmental funds, fiduciary funds and fixed assets of the County; Hire, coach, train and motivate team. Prioritize and identify workload, provide feedback, and recognize accomplishments of staff. Conduct performance evaluations, monitor work quality and quantity. Establish performance metrics and coach/counsel and mentor based on those metrics. Discuss individual performance with employees and recommend a training or development plan. Prepare the County's financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting standards; Maximize operational efficiencies, safeguard assets, assure adequate internal controls and participate in assessing internal controls through internal control risk assessments in county agencies; Participate in the development and direct the implementation of county-wide financial and related administrative policies and procedures in compliance with State law and administrative rules, County code and ordinances, federal rules and regulations, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), governmental accounting standards (GASB), and generally accepted government auditing standards (GAGAS); Provide assistance and guidance to County agencies and department staff and management in the analysis, research and resolution of complex accounting and financial issues; Interact with internal and external auditors and participate in auditing projects; provide information and access to accounting records; develop and provide responses to audit recommendations; Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices. Have a collaborative approach on how to get things done through formal and informal channels; Build trusted partnerships with internal and external customers through transparency, solid customer service, and resolving differences respectfully; Facilitate process improvement using LEAN procedures, techniques and problem solving skills.
