GFOA is seeking an entry-level professional with a degree in accounting to perform reviews of state and local government financial statements as a program associate in GFOA’s Technical Services Center. Candidates should possess a keen interest in developing specialized expertise in accounting and financial reporting for state and local governments. The successful candidate will work as part of a professional and administrative staff of 17, reviewing and analyzing financial reports submitted by state and local governments to the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program (CAFR Program) and other GFOA award programs. This position also provides technical assistance to preparers of those documents. Long-range opportunities include instructing training seminars and writing technical articles and publications. The position provides an excellent opportunity for national exposure to government finance as it is practiced at the state and local levels.
