Your work as our new Controller at the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency will help us provide affordable housing across North Carolina. Due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking a talented finance executive with a solid record of senior-level operation accounting and supervisory experience preferably in a governmental organization, not-for-profit, or financial industry to provide leadership and direction for our Finance team.

Main Objectives: Manages the preparation of all financial information and accounting records; manages the audits and publishing of financial statements; provides guidance, direction, and evaluation to all accounting staff in the Finance team. Leads in the design, system administration, optimization of processes and user experience, and support of the Agency’s financial reporting applications.

Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution in business administration with a major in finance or accounting, and eight years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least three years of experience in supervision. CPA is required. Experience with fund accounting, mortgage servicing, governmental accounting principles, and compliance with federal and state awards is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Audit experience including compliance with federal and state awards, 2 CFR 200 (Super Circular), generally accepted accounting principles, and government auditing standards; contract management and project management experience; experience with fund accounting, automated information systems and systems implementation. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and basic knowledge of e-mail and internet usage is needed.
