Job Description: 

JOB CHARACTERISTICS: Supports the Business Manager by performing core accounting functions relating to the administration and control of District financial resources

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS may include, but are not limited to the following: Performs activities involving the maintenance and control of the general ledger Prepares and runs general ledger reports, reviews general ledger for accuracy/completeness Prepares adjusting journal entries for supervisor review and general ledger posting Prepares financial analyses and reconciliations; researches and reviews transactions Accounts for the District’s revenues and related expenditures for various federal and state grants, and other resources Prepares account reconciliations to ensure the general ledger is balanced and reconciled to subsidiary asset and liability accounts and fund balances and bank accounts Prepares complex financial, statistical, and management reports such as financial summaries, reimbursement claims, cost analyses for program areas Assists in annual audit preparation, including supporting analyses and schedules. Assists in annual budget preparation, related projections; creates financial reports; monitors, analyzes and reconciles program expenditures Assists with annual personnel budget preparation, including creating salary schedules and calendars, various FTE schedules and analyses Assists with preparation and monitoring of federal, state and other grant budgets and related grant reimbursement requests Prepares various reports for federal, state, and other governmental agencies to ensure compliance with program, grant or contract requirements Oversees records retention for the Business Office Provides support for all accounting functions of the Business Office Primary back up for Payroll and Accounts Payable functions Assists with financial software enhancements and improvements Acts as a friendly ambassador for the North Bend School District Performs other duties as assigned by Business Manager, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the accounting system

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related area required Three years experience in Accounting/Finance, governmental accounting experience preferred Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices and procedures Experience in and working with Sungard EFinance financial software application is a plus High proficiency in personal computer spreadsheet applications Ability to organize time and resources to perform multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work independently, to follow oral and written direction and to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to make decisions independently, use initiative and good judgment in accomplishing tasks Ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to personnel, district financial and legal matters Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions Possess valid Oregon Driver's License Criminal Justice fingerprint/background clearance


Perform physical requirements which may include: Moderate degree of physical stamina and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time Ability to frequently stand, walk, and bend Ability to use computer, telephone, and other office equipment for extended periods of time
