The Clerk of the Circuit Court as an elected Constitutional Officer responsible for safeguarding public records and funds, is seeking an accomplished Assistant Director to the Finance Division with Pinellas County. This is responsible professional, technical, accounting and administrative work assisting the Chief Deputy Director, Finance Division in the effective operation of the office which includes the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) and the Clerk of the Circuit Court (Clerk)'s accounting, finance and payroll functions and the Clerk's fiduciary accounting and Clerk's budget functions and in overseeing the official record keeping function to the BCC. Work includes developing and maintaining effective internal controls in all financial areas; new systems evaluation, planning, deployment and support and changes to existing systems and procedures; investment of County funds; administration and payment of debt; directing year-end reconciliation and closing process, including preparation of the CAFR and other required financial reports; pre-audit of revenues and expenditures; contract review and monitoring; maintaining the fee schedules and maintaining records. Ability to exercise independent judgment, knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting for governments and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. A bachelor's degree and 8 years responsible experience in governmental accounting and an active Florida CPA license are required. The position reports to the Chief Deputy Director, Finance Division.
