The North Tahoe Public Utility District is seeking a Controller. This is an exciting opportunity as it is a newly created position which will oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the department. The Controller will work under the Chief Financial Officer to ensure that reports, accounts, systems, policies, and practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Controller will also establish, coordinate, and maintain an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the District.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and have demonstrated expertise in report preparation, budget preparation and reconciliation processes. The position requires the use of considerable independent judgment and initiative in the performance of high level administrative and technical finance and accounting duties. Areas of responsibility will include supervision, scheduling, and coordinating work with the accounting/finance staff.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and five to seven years experience managing fiscal, budget, and cost of service matters in a public utility setting. Master’s degree preferred. The five-step salary range for the position is $96,772 to $117,627, plus Earnable Performance Pay up to 3% after top step. Excellent benefits.
