Job Description: 

Under general supervision of the County Court, the Finance Director is responsible for all County financial operations. Critical aspects of this position include, but are not limited to: Serving as the County’s appointed Tax Collector; the development, review, analysis, evaluation, and administration of the County’s budget and financial operations; and the continual evaluation of fiscal impact of budget submittals and related issues on departmental budgets and County-wide budget. The Finance Director oversees the tracking and monitoring of budget expenditures, ensuring that all allocated funds have been spent properly; develops and implements budgetary controls procedures; develops and reviews financial scenarios and models, advises the Court and department heads regarding financial impacts on a long-term financial forecast, incorporating insight and analysis on both revenue and cost trends. Additionally, the Finance Director works across the County to provide financial subject matter expertise and leadership with the data, insights, and tools necessary to build a culture of responsible fiscal management with a goal of more efficient use of County resources, promoting more transparency around County operations; managing and coaching the finance team to provide financial support on the County’s most important decisions.

Required Education and Experience • Bachelor’s Degree • 5 years progressively responsible experience in a financial management position in a government setting, with experience and responsibility for monies, securities, bonded debt management, and accounting. • 3 years supervisory experience in a similar environment. • Any combination of the above mentioned that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered. Preferred Education and Experience • Degree focus in finance or administration is highly desirable. • CPA or Master’s • GFOA certification
