The Finance Department at the City of Sugar Land is seeking exceptional individuals to fill the role of Budget Analyst. Under the general direction of the Budget Manager, the Budget Analyst performs a variety of duties relating to management of the general and financial business of the City. Work involves a broad variety of data analysis including preparation of schedules in support of the annual budget process. The Budget Analyst is directly involved in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the annual operating budget, long range forecast and five-year capital improvement plan. Engage with assigned departments on a regular basis to monitor and assist in annual budget preparation and implementation.
The position provides a valuable opportunity to gain insight and experience with both the operational and administrative aspects of the city. Attention to detail and accuracy are essential to be successful in this position.
Bachelor's Degree in public administration or related field. Master's degree in public administration desirable. One year of municipal experience, preferably in an analytical capacity. Valid Driver's License.
Three years budget, accounting, or finance experience. (Master's degree in related field can be substituted for two years of work experience.) Experience in municipa budgeting a plus.
