The Office of Public Utilities, Finance Division is seeking an individual to assist the Chief Accountant in the management and supervision of accounting department operations. Perform professional accounting work and supervise utility accounting staff. Assume responsibility for the accurate and timely presentation of monthly and annual financial statements; as well as state and federal reporting requirements. This position requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to to an undergraduate degree in accounting and five years progressively responsible accounting experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory experience and certification as a CPA is required. Experience in the preparation of financial statements, and a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and GASB pronouncements is desired. Current employees (where applicable) and persons hired or rehired after 1-1-17 shall maintain their bona fide residence within the corporate limits of the city during all periods of service. Newly hired or rehired employees have 12 months from date of hire to establish city residency.
