Job Description: 

The City of Tracy is seeking a motivated finance professional with previous municipal budgeting experience working in a fast-paced agency. This position requires a person with budgetary expertise, exceptional writing abilities, and superior supervisory skills who is dedicated to providing outstanding customer service. This position reports to the Finance Director, who is the department head with overall responsibility for the City of Tracy’s Finance Department. The ideal candidate for this position must be an effective finance professional, a creative problem solver, and be adaptable to change. Under the direction of the Finance Director, the successful incumbent will plan, organize, coordinate and participate in budget development and preparation and their control activities. The Budget Officer is responsible to perform specialized professional level work in analyzing and estimating future revenue and expenditures; including long-term and short-term financial forecasting and planning. They will prepare and coordinate financial aspects of City operational and capital fiscal oversight and control, including contract and grant management. The position is assigned to supervise a staff of professional, technical and administrative employees. Candidates for consideration will need to demonstrate financial expertise in government budget and financial reporting, combined with strong management skills for oversight of daily operations. This position will also provide professional support to other departments as the City encourages team problem-solving approaches to issues. This position requires a flexible, detail-oriented person who can work efficiently and effectively with internal staff, members of the public, City departments, outside agencies/organizations, and assist other personnel in assigned duties.
