This position is responsible for directing Minnesota Management and Budget’s (MMB) financial management operations and for successfully providing financial services to MMB’s business units to meet their needs efficiently and effectively. As the director of the department’s Fiscal Services Unit, the Financial Services Director (FSD) is the primary liaison between the unit and state agencies, vendors, MMB’s varied business units, and other stakeholders who interact with the unit. The FSD manages the unit’s financial and human resources and directly supervises staff in the unit. The FSD also ensures the Fiscal Services Unit and other business units in the department are adhering to all financial-related laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.
The FSD takes lead responsibility for the preparation of financial documents and reports related to the department’s operating budget, including the biennial budget, and serves as MMB’s fiscal note coordinator. The FSD also provides analysis, advice, and counsel to the department’s Chief Financial Officer, executive leadership team, and department directors on fiscal and budget policies and issues.
Requires minimum 5 years exp or BA w/3 years exp or MA w/2 years exp. Required experience includes supervisory/management experience w/accounting, auditing, budgeting, cost allocation, expense/revenue forecasting, financial operations, financial reporting, and/or internal control/risk assessment. Experience with complex hardware/software systems; possess database, analytical, problem solving, communication and human relations skills. Knowledge of GAAP, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, excellent attention to detail.
