SALARY RANGE: $62,426.87 - $91,539.30 per year, depending on experience

THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION (RTC) OF WASHOE COUNTY, NEVADA, an integrated transportation agency that serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), transit authority, and street and highway construction agency invites applications for the position of Accountant.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under general supervision, the Accountant performs a range of increasingly complex accounting and statistical analysis tasks. This includes maintaining financial, technical, and accounting records for the RTC, along with providing technical support in assigned areas.

This is a professional entry-level position in the Accounting series. Progression to the next level is not automatic.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting in the audit of vouchers payable and reviewing accounts payable for accuracy, proper coding, and discounts taken or missed
• Supporting posting, balancing, and reconciling the general ledger and subsidiary accounts
• Assisting with monthly and year-end closings, including trial balance preparation and related statements
• Reviewing subledger adjustments, internal and external reports, contracts, state revenue and project calculations, and other financial data for accuracy and impact
• Preparing supporting work papers and assisting auditors during periodic audits
• Monitoring compliance with GAAP, GASB, and RTC policies and procedures
• Assisting in the preparation of notes for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered, candidates must meet one of the following:

• Four (4) years of applicable accounting experience AND an associate’s degree or higher
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties.
