Description of Position

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, will assist in optimizing the accounting system, providing broad based financial support, and performing various accounting duties. Responsibilities include understanding system technical requirements and processes, optimization of system related functionalities, and troubleshooting system issues. The right candidate will have a solid blend of accounting experience and possess a strong, analytical/IT skillset.

Job Duties

• Finance technology lead and liaison - learn system functionality, educate users, finance system configuration and testing
• Participate in various finance technology projects to provide technical system support.
• Utilize automated financial systems
• Compiles and generates journal entries, spreadsheets and accounting documentation
• Reconciles various balance sheet accounts to subsidiary ledgers or other documentation
• Prepares various financial reports and analyses
• Provides guidance on fiscal procedures, processes, and systems to department end users
• Performs other accounting, payroll and clerical duties as assigned

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field
• Experience in computerized accounting systems, report writing and/or database applications development as well as spreadsheet applications
• 3 + years of related experience required

Preferred Skills & Abilities

• Experience with Ellucian Banner Finance systems and COGNOS report tool preferred
• Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment
