Job Description

The Village of La Grange (pop. 16,321) is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager for the Finance Department. La Grange is a vibrant community offering walkable and charming neighborhoods surrounding a bustling downtown that features dozens of diverse restaurants, numerous independent shops, and national retail tenants. Located at the crossroads of La Grange Road, Ogden Avenue, and the Metra BNSF line, over 50,000 vehicles, commuters, and pedestrians stream through downtown La Grange every day.

Under the general supervision of the Finance Director, independently performs a variety of complex supervisory, professional, analytical, and technical duties related to the Accounting and Finance functions of the Village. Responsibilities include accounting, annual audit, accounts payable, budget, cash management, and assisting in special projects as assigned.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees the day-to-day services and activities of the Finance Department including revenue and tax collections, accounts receivable and payable, purchasing and contracting, payroll, audit and budget, fixed assets, and other financial management services.
  • Assists with the annual audit and confirmations, prepares work papers and required schedules and tables.
  • Supports the annual budget process with analytical and historical review of department requests, assists in budget document development, evaluates and recommends budget process improvements, etc.
  • Audits and reconciles bank statements and payroll to prepare monthly bank account reconciliation and trial balance reports, account analyses, and monthly reports.
  • Prepares and maintains the general ledger, expense reports, and revenue reports
