The City of Crystal Lake, with a population of 40,743, is the largest community in McHenry County and is a city with a rich history, rewarding quality of life and tremendous community spirit. Located 50 miles northwest of Chicago and home to two Metra stations, Crystal Lake residents enjoy the many employment, cultural, and recreational opportunities of a major metropolitan city, yet live in a pleasant, small-town atmosphere. The City is a politically and financially stable home-rule community that covers 18.7 square miles, that is seeking a forward-thinking Assistant Finance Director to assist with a strategic leadership role in helping direct the fiscal operations of the City. Characteristics of the City’s financial operations include sustainability, long-range planning, collaboration and strategic leadership.

The City is rated AA+ and has a current annual budget (all funds) of over $102 million, with over 370 full-time, part-time, and seasonal personnel. The Assistant Finance Director reports directly to the Director of Finance and manages 5 full-time personnel.

The fiscal year 2020-21 salary range for this position is $89,926 - $132,270. Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. This position will remain open until filled.
