Job Description
Position Overview:
Seeking a part-time accountant for City of Nolanville. Hours are flexible within the workweek.
Responsible for performing a variety of general accounting functions, including preparing various financial reports, analyzing and reconciling accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and tracking fixed assets.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for month-end closing process, ensuring transactions are properly posted.
- Prepares various financial reports, reconciliations, work sheets, and schedules.
- Assists in the preparation and management of the budget
- Reconciles accounts payable invoices for payment.
- Prepares quarterly and annual payroll reports.
- Analyzes and reconciles various general ledger accounts.
- Identifies, tracks and reconciles fixed assets on a monthly basis.
- Reconciles bank statements.
- Performs internal audits.
- Prepares and processes journal entries.
- Prepares various audit schedules and works with city City’s external auditors.
- Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
- Reconciles daily cash receipt transactions.
- Investigates accounting-related inquiries.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to demonstrate good customer relations practices.
- High level of problem-solving skills.
- Proficient knowledge of office procedures, equipment and financial system software.
- Ability to communicate clearly and prepare correspondence, reports, etc.
- Ability to establish work priorities and complete job tasks within specified time frame.
- Ability to follow all City safety rules and operating procedures at all times.
- Ability to prepare and analyze detailed reports, including financial reports.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Over 2 years of experience as an accountant
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- CPA certification
- Municipal government experience
- Experience working with INCODE software (Tyler Technologies)
