The City of Creedmoor is approximately 20 miles north of Raleigh and northeast of Durham with approximately 4,600 residents. Creedmoor is expanding to new heights with our newly constructed community center that will be opening in the Spring 2021. Also, Creedmoor currently has several capital projects underway, 3+ miles of sidewalks/greenways and major park renovations.
We are seeking a full-time Finance Director, who is an experienced professional with strong interpersonal and financial competency skills to oversee the city’s $4M budget and $8M general fund reserves. The Finance Director is responsible accounting, payroll, cash management, investment portfolio management, and financial reporting. This position requires excellent written/verbal communication skills to effectively convey financial topics to staff, elected officials, and citizens. The position is also involved in financial aspects of capital improvement planning and budgeting, strategic planning, grant administration, and performance measurement. The Creedmoor Finance Department has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the past 11 years in a row. Other duties include, but are not limited to: preparing and presenting complex and detailed fiscal reports of a budgetary or financial nature; organizing and directing the work of an Accounting Technician who supports all accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, payroll administration, and investment efforts.
Selected candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or directly related field; 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible accounting and fiscal administration experience, preferably in a local government setting. Master’s Degree and/or Certified North Carolina Local Government Finance Officer designation or CPA is preferred.
The hiring range for this position is from $57,000-$70,000, based on education and experience.
