Financial Services Manager I
The County of San Mateo, Department of Housing, Housing and Community Development team seeks qualified candidates for the position of Financial Services Manager I.
In general, the Financial Services Manager I will:
Organize, direct, and coordinate the financial activities of the department.
Assist in the development and implementation of program goals, policies, and priorities.
Supervise, train, and direct assigned personnel.
Coordinate a variety of financial and administrative support functions.
Provide financial reporting and administrative support to senior level management.
In addition, the ideal candidate should have, but not required:
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant license issued by the State of California is highly desirable.
Experience with financial regulations, policies, and procedures related to the administration of federal housing programs such as Community Development Block Grant, HOME and Emergency Solutions Grants, and State housing programs such as the Permanent Local Housing Allocation, Local Housing Trust Fund, Housing for a Healthy California, Homekey, and others is highly desirable.
The Department of Housing’s Housing Community Development division (DOH-HCD) is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), various State of California programs, County of San Mateo Measure K tax revenues, and other resources with an annual budget of more than $100 million. DOH-HCD collaborates with diverse stakeholders to facilitate the development and preservation of affordable housing through the provision of local, state, and federal funding, along with the sharing of best practices and innovative policies. DOH-HCD supports public service agencies, microenterprises, homeless and transitional shelters, core services organizations, and fair housing organizations through grant funding and technical assistance.
The mission of the Department’s Housing and Community Development division is to increase the supply of affordable housing and create opportunities for people at all income levels and abilities to prosper by supporting livable and thriving communities.
The salary range for this position is $121,285 to $151,632 annually. QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
- Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, auditing, economics or business administration or other field applicable to the responsibilities and abilities required by the position.
- Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing a wide variety of financial duties in a large, complex public agency.
