Senior Finance Analyst
The City of Renton is seeking a talented Senior Finance Analyst in our Finance department. The Senior Finance Analyst is responsible for planning and developing the biennial budget and performing accounting functions for the City. This position is part of a team of analysts that focus on the City’s biennial budget, annual comprehensive financial report, and other accounting and finance functions.
This role requires a minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting, and financial analysis and related Bachelor's degree or equivalent (see the Education, Experience section below). The incumbent will work on a variety of finance and budgeting functions. We will be looking for your expertise in developing and monitoring budgets, complex financial analysis, and GAAP accounting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate meetings and/or committees, prepare meeting agendas, and facilitate information sharing and collaboration between departments city-wide.
- Act as a finance department liaison to one or more internal City Departments; assist supported departments in budget development and on-going budget review and management.
- Work with departments to develop strategies and solutions to achieve their goals within parameters of federal, state, local, and City laws and regulations.
- Analyze department financial activity for accuracy, identify questionable items, and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Conduct research, interpret governing laws and regulations, and make recommendations.
- Perform cost versus benefit analysis and develop logical and ethical recommendations.
- Prepare and present financial reports including variance analysis, short-and long-term projections, and other necessary correspondence to Directors, Administrators, Elected Officials, employees and the public.
- Conduct research and draft financial policies for supervisor review.

- Participate in and help provide cross-training in processes as directed by management to ensure a well-rounded team for coverage purposes.

- May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or closely related field.
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial analysis, and public finance.
- Or 8 years of relevant experience and education.
- Successful passing of a required background and credit check.
