CPFO Spotlight

Gina Bixby
Gina Bixby, principal technical accountant for Prosper Portland, started her CPFO journey to deepen her understanding of government finance and how different areas intersect. Through the program, she gained insight beyond just completing tasks—learning the “why” behind reporting, continuity, and clear financial processes. Earning the CPFO designation has boosted her confidence in navigating financial information, making research on new topics less daunting and more approachable. Gina believes the CPFO program is valuable for anyone pursuing a career in government finance. While some sections were more relevant to her specific role, she emphasizes the importance of understanding key intersections across procurement, investments, bonds, and payroll.
