Local governments are receiving historic amounts of funding to invest in a range of infrastructure projects. As local governments deploy these funds, the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Thriving Communities Technical Assistance (TCTA) program provides technical assistance resources that can help jurisdictions identify and use vacant, abandoned, or underutilized land located on or near transportation projects that is suitable for housing development. Jurisdictions can leverage their infrastructure investments to revitalize communities, ensure equitable access to resources, create economic opportunities for residents and businesses, and improve housing availability, affordability, and quality. The TCTA program, funded in FY22 with $5 million, is designed to support coordination and integration of transportation and housing in infrastructure planning and implementation.

Join us on this webinar to learn about the opportunity for HUD's TCTA program to assist your jurisdiction with integrating housing and transportation planning, including identifying opportunities from vacant and underutilized land. You will also hear from GFOA about our Putting Assets to Work initiative that helps jurisdictions dust off underutilized assets (e.g., dormant parking lots) and work alongside private and philanthropic partners to make those assets generate revenue.

If you’re not able to join this webinar, please attend ICMA’s webinar on October 12th at 1pm ET which will discuss GFOA’s Putting Assets to Work initiative on how to unlock value from public real estate assets.
