Where and what are you currently studying and why did you choose this?

I’m attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and studying the Master of Science in Data Analytics program.  The program focuses on accounting and process improvement.

Why did you choose this?

I feel this degree provides an exciting opportunity to lead and make an impact on the future of government.  I also want to leave the government in a better spot for future employees and communities.

What government are you working or hoping to work at in the future?

I work for a special district in Illinois at the Waukegan Park District.  I oversee the areas of finance, risk management, IT, human resources, operations, and golf.

What are your future career goals?

I am superintendent of finance and administration and hope to be promoted to the level of director in my area.

Which GFOA scholarship did you receive and how will GFOA’s scholarship help you achieve those goals?

I am a recipient of one of the four Government Finance Professional Development scholarships. I have a passion for elevating government operations. This program creates an environment using data analytics to lead local government and make a meaningful impact with the essential services during any economy. This scholarship will help me attain this degree to rethink how government operates for future generations of government professionals.
